Access denied? I have a same problem of you, but long path tool help me in this situation. So you can download a latest version of “Long Path Tool» for solve this problem.
I’ve found the right solution to this problem. The other answers work but they seem like a quick fix rather than actually fixing the actual problem.
The problem is with the security permissions on your profile temp folder. To fix it navigate to %temp% or C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local and right click on the Temp folder and choose properties, then click the security tab and click advanced.
On the permissions tab you should see the permissions that are there. There should 3 which are:
‘SYSTEM’ with Full control which applies to ‘This folder, subfolders and files’
‘Administrators’ with Full control which applies to ‘This folder, subfolders and files’
‘Your Username’ with Full control which applies to ‘This folder, subfolders and files’
and all 3 should be inherited from the C:\Users\[Username]\ folder.
If you don’t have the ‘Include inheritable permissions from this object’s parent’ option ticked, then tick it and click continue if there are any problems, then remove the permissions that aren’t inherited.
Once you click ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ you should have the permissions to write to the directory and you won’t get those error messages any more.
Hope this solves your problem

I have the same problem, suddenly. I cannot find a directory called C:\Users\ in my XP pro. I know I have seen the users directory but can’t find it now. Search can’t find it either. Any thoughts?
I checked settings on the permissions tab you mentioned above, but i still get the error.
is there any other solution.
Thanks for your solution but that solution was temporary.
I followed procedure as mentioned by you i.e ticked the ‘Include inheritable permissions from this object’s parent’ option. The problem was solved but when i restarted my system, again I was unable to access temp folder. Again the same problem started occurring. Is there any fixed solution? please help me out!
I set the setup.exe file’s compatibility mode to XP SP3. Now it works.
My permissions were all fine, so if anyone has trouble resolving the issue after sorting permissions then make sure you try fully disabling your anti-virus / anti-spyware / firewall applications, because that was the cause for me.
Problem:
——
Failed to install this application
— http://www.ssware.com/cryptoobfuscator/download.htm
— on Windows 8.1 x64
— Get error message «Unable To Execute Files In The Temporary Directory. Setup Aborted. Error 5: Access Is Denied.»
First Candidate Solution
—-
The issue turns out to NOT be security rights on the Temp folder
ESET Smart Security HIPS Advanced Memory Scanner is the cause
—
Instead, I went and turned off all the ESS protections one by one and it turned out to be HIPS that is causing this false positive.
In fact, it is the Advanced Memory Scanner option under HIPS that is causing the error, while the application in question is legit (using Inno Setup and presumably trying to write to the user temp folder, not sure whether just logs or to execute from there)

Thank you. I have the same OS and installed ESET Smart Security as well. And it is resolved now.
I just want to add, that by «Temporarily disable protection» and «Temporarily disable firewall», it doesn’t work. You have to disable HIPS, as KristjanL said.
