[INS-20802] Oracle Database Configuration Assistant failed.

I faced the same issue recently and I tried several of the following methods for resolving the issue :-
but none of them helped.
At last I found this, which suggested installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) and this solved the problem in a matter of seconds! I just had to click ‘Retry’ on the installation dialog.
For me everything was working fine. I checked for listener, services, path. Then I tried below and it works. During installation when Database configuration got failed. Go to sqlnet.ora file and replace NTS with NONE.
Example : SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE)
After that try again installing the database configuration. Click on Retry.
Note: If you have installed oracle and skip database configuration failed step then you can go to search bar of window and open Database configuration and try downloading it & it will get installed and will ask for password. After that you will be able to connect to database.
DONT USE @ IN ORACLE PASSWORD Because when you try to login sql plus it will give error. In case you did that then write your password in inverted commas. ex: «password»

После установки я обнаружил, что у Oracle есть собственный мгновенный клиент, поэтому у меня было обсессивно-компульсивное расстройство. Я собирался удалить мгновенный клиент, который устанавливался неоднократно. В результате я поступил глупо и даже удалил Oracle в интерфейсе удаления ( Кто бы мог подумать, что эти два парня появились на одном интерфейсе) Итак, согласно руководству по удалению, упомянутому выше, Oracle был полностью удален, независимо от работы по очистке после удаления повторной установки Instantclient, а PLSQL не был удален.
Вторая установка: не удалось
На этот раз я установил Oracle только в соответствии с инструкцией. После сбоя я не проверял файл журнала. Я ошибочно подумал, что во время последнего удаления чего-то не хватало. Поэтому я снова выполнил полное удаление и подготовился к третьей установке. В последний раз я тоже очищал.Удалите остатки Instantclient, не удаляя PLSQL.
Третья установка: не удалось
При установке Oracle он сообщил о той же ошибке, что и при второй установке: [INS-20802]
Я не выходил из установки.После тщательной проверки записей журнала я нашел следующий абзац, но никакого прироста не было.
Затем проверьте более подробный файл журнала в каталоге установки Oracle и найдите запись об ошибке. Есть два абзаца (на первый взгляд похожие):

for me it worked in diffrent way.
I had to run the installer from ‘win64’ directory. Then a cmd window prompted with missing java_home. I the provided the path of Java_home to my c:\program files\java\jdk1.7 and it did the trick. My environment is Windows 2008 server SP2, 64 bit.
Log file indicates that it’s not possible to start listener, because “The information provided for this listener is currently in use by other software on this computer.” Not very helpful, so i checked the trace file.

Thank you. My ip address is correct so I just initiated with retry step. This error didn’t resurfaced now.
I checked all the configuration mentioned above but all were fine for me.
Then just clicked on retry from the installer screen and this time
oracle net configuration assistant succeeded 🙂
Hi men, I’ve the same problem but I only put the name of the server in my host file located in /etc/host, so my file looks like:

If you dont know what is the name of your host only put in the comamand line hostname

Log error: [INS-20802] error occurred when installing Oracle.
First installation: successful
Result: Oracle is successfully installed and PLSQL is successfully connected to Oracle.
After the installation, I found that Oracle had its own instantclient, so I had an obsessive-compulsive disorder, and I was about to uninstall the instantclient that was repeatedly installed. As a result, I was silly, and even Oracle was uninstalled on the uninstall interface (who would have thought that these two guys appeared on the same interface), So according to the uninstallation tutorial mentioned above, Oracle was completely removed, regardless of the cleanup work after the repeated installation of instantclient was uninstalled, and PLSQL was not uninstalled.
Second installation: failed
This time I installed Oracle only according to the tutorial. After the failure, I did not check the log file. I mistakenly thought that something was missing during the last uninstallation. So I performed a complete uninstallation again and prepared for the third installation, this time with the removal of the last time. Uninstall the residue of instantclient without uninstalling PLSQL.
Third installation: failed
When installing Oracle, it reported the same error as the second installation: [INS-20802]
I did not exit the installation. After carefully checking the log records, I found the following paragraph, but there was no gain.
Then check the more detailed log file in the Oracle installation directory, and find out the error record. There are two paragraphs (seemingly similar):

INS-20802 Oracle Net Configuration Assistant failed
I was recently attempting to install the Oracle 12c 32-bit client on Windows Server 2012 R2 when I was faced with the following error message:
When I had earlier installed this same Oracle 12c client on Windows Server 2008 R2, I encountered no such problems.

It directed me to go ahead and download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable (x86) from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=5555
After installing the Visual C++ Redistributable as outlined in the article, the Oracle 12c client installed without issue!
